Surah Al-Ghashiyah

The text of Surah Al-Ghashiyah  in Arabic:

 

1. هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
2. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
3. عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
4. تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً
5. تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
6. لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلاَّ مِن ضَرِيعٍ
7. لا يُسْمِنُ وَلا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ
8. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
9. لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
10. فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
11. لّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لاغِيَةً
12. فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
13. فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
14. وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
15. وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
16. وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
17. أَفَلا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
18. وَإِلَى السَّمَاء كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
19. وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
20. وَإِلَى الأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
22. لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
23. إِلاَّ مَن تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الأَكْبَرَ
25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ

Translation of Surah Al-Ghashiyah  in English:

Has the news of the Overwhelming Event come to you?

On that Day, faces will be humbled,

Laboring, weary,

Scorched by a burning Fire,

Given to drink from a boiling spring,

No food for them except from a poisonous, thorny plant,

No nourishment for them except from a bitter, dangerous plant.

On that Day, faces will be radiant,

Glad for their effort,

In a lofty Garden,

Wherein they will hear no idle talk,

Wherein is a flowing spring,

Wherein are couches raised high,

And goblets set out,

And cushions arranged,

And carpets spread out.

Do they not look at the camels, how they are created?

And at the sky, how it is raised up?

And at the mountains, how they are erected?

And at the earth, how it is spread out?

So remind, for you are only a reminder.

You are not over them a controller.

But whoever turns away and disbelieves,

Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.

Indeed, to Us is their return,

Then indeed, upon Us is their account.

How to pronounce Surah Al-Ghashiyah in English

hal ‘ataaka Hadiithu al-ghashiyyati

wujuhun yawma’idhin khashi’ah

‘aamilatun naasibah

taslaa naaran haamiyah

tusqa min ‘aynin ‘aaniyah

laisa lahum t’a’amun ‘illaa min dari’in

laa yusminu wa laa yughnee min joo’in

wujuhun yawma’idhin na’imah

lis’yihi raadiyah

fee jannatin ‘aaliyah

laa tasma’u feeha laaghiyah

feeha ‘aynun jaariyah

feeha sururun marfuu’ah

wa ‘akwaabun mawdhu’ah

wa namaariqun masfufah

wa zaraabiya mabthuuthah

‘afalaa yanthuruuna ‘ilaa al-ibili kayfa khuliqat

wa ‘ilaa al-samaa’i kayfa rufi’at

wa ‘ilaa al-jibaali kayfa nuSibat

wa ‘ilaa al-ardi kayfa suTHihat

fadhakkir ‘innamaa ‘anta muthakkir

lasta ‘alayhim bimuSayTir

‘illaa man tawalla wa kafara

fayu’adhdhibuhu Allahu al-‘adhaba al-‘akbar

‘inna ‘ilayna ‘iyyaabahum

thumma ‘inna ‘alayna hisaabahum

Surah Al-Ghashiyah of the Quran is believed to bring about many spiritual and physical benefits. It is said to bring about spiritual protection, increase faith and trust in Allah, and help in attaining salvation. It is also believed to bring about physical benefits such as curing illnesses, providing protection from harm, and bringing about success in business and other endeavors. Additionally, it is said to help in improving relationships, bring about peace and tranquility, and help in attaining inner peace.
