Translation of Surah Al-Fajr in English:
At dawn,
And ten nights,
And the even and the odd,
And the night when it passes;
Is there any divider for one who has a pledge?
Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with ‘Aad,
Of Iram, with its lofty pillars,
The like of which were not created in the lands?
And Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley,
And Pharaoh, of the stakes?
Who committed excesses in the lands
And multiplied corruption therein.
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
Indeed, your Lord is ever watchful.
But as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, “My Lord has humiliated me.”
No! But you do not honor the orphan
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
And you love wealth with immense love.
No! When the earth has been leveled –
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
And Hellfire has been brought near – on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance benefit him?
He will say, “Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life.”
So on that Day none will punish [as severely] as His punishment
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
“Oh, soul at peace,
Return to your Lord, well-pleasing and well-pleasing [to Him].
And enter among My [righteous] servants
And enter My Paradise.”
