Istikhara and Time Management

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the relentless pace of life, struggling to balance your spiritual needs with daily responsibilities? The solution might just lie within the ancient wisdom of the Quran. In a world where efficiency is king, discover how the practice of Istikhara, a spiritual guidance prayer, can revolutionize your approach to time management.

What is Istikhara?

Istikhara, rooted in Islamic tradition, is a prayer for seeking guidance. When faced with a decision, Muslims turn to this practice to seek Allah’s guidance and wisdom. It’s not just about making choices; it’s about aligning your life with divine wisdom.

The Istikhara Dua

The heart of Istikhara lies in its dua (prayer), a beautiful invocation for guidance. Here it is in its original Arabic, along with the English translation and pronunciation:

English Translation: “O Allah, I seek Your counsel by Your knowledge and by Your power I seek strength and I ask You from Your immense favor, for indeed You are able while I am not and indeed You know while I do not and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know this affair to be good for me in relation to my religion, my life, and the end of my affair, then decree it for me and facilitate it for me and then bless me in it. And if You know this affair to be ill for me towards my religion, my life, and the end of my affair, then remove it from me and remove me from it and decree for me what is good wherever it may be and make me satisfied with it.”

Pronunciation: “Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi’ilmika, wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika, wa as’aluka min fadlika al-‘azim, fa-innaka taqdiru wala aqdiru, wa ta’lamu wala a’lamu, wa anta ‘allamul-ghuyub. Allahumma in kunta ta’lamu anna hadhal-amra khayrun li fi deeni wa ma’ashi wa ‘aqibati amri (or he said in ‘ajili amri wa ajilihi) faqdirhu li wayassirhu li thumma barik li fihi. Wa in kunta ta’lamu anna hadhal-amra sharrun li fi deeni wa ma’ashi wa ‘aqibati amri (or he said in ‘ajili amri wa ajilihi) fasrifhu ‘anni wasrifni ‘anhu. Waqdir li al-khayra haithu kana thumma ardini.”
